Two weeks ago Rooms 18, 19, and 2 did a science experiment. We wanted to explore how forces work with parachutes. One of the lovely Room 2 parents gave us a lantern to try out. The lantern took a while to light and it was like a mini parachute. Soon the air warmed up inside the lantern and this caused it to rise. This is because warm air is lighter than cool air and so it rises and it blew up the lantern. The lantern floated up into the sky before heading over towards Halswell Quarry.
Scientists have to keep safe. We made this experiment safe by having water nearby in case our lantern caught fire. We also made sure that we stayed far away from the lantern when it was being lit.
We loved this experiment!!!!
